AcuServe
AcuServe Quality of Service (QoS)
Management
Many carriers have little more than hindsight to analyze the dynamics
between cost and quality of service. While driving voice
traffic
on the least expensive routes is often a carrier’s goal,
doing so
can be counterproductive if those routes suffer network performance
problems. Quality of Service (QoS) problems and their
associated
cost implications can be difficult to identify and
understand.
Additionally, manual intervention to redirect traffic from problem
areas is often inefficient, prone to error and always comes at a higher
cost to the business. Higher profit margins at the expense of
quality of service are an unsustainable formula in today’s
competitive voice provider market.
AcuServe
serves as the
traffic cop in the Acuité software suite. It
provides near
real-time network monitoring and adaptation. It
monitors
network performance in near real-time and identifies problematic route
paths via i) CDR analysis or ii) via a feed of the carrier’s
external KPIs (key performance indicators). When QoS
performance
threshold exceptions are detected from these feeds, AcuServe provides
operators with near-instantaneous alerts and rerouting recommendations
for approval. Once approved, these override translations are
then
automatically uploaded to the switch.
AcuServe will also automatically recommend the removal of override
translations when they expire, can report on the presence of overrides
in the network and, in conjunction with other Acuité modules,
allows
the operator to calculate the “Penalty Cost” of
having had
a translations override in the network.
Furthermore, Network Operations personnel no longer have know the
specific translations tables for each switch type in the
network. AcuServe
offers a
standardized GUI that ‘converts’ the
operator’s
commands into the native switch specific language for automated input
into each switch type in the network. This
further reduces translations errors, training and overall
costs.
AcuServe is engineered with sophisticated algorithms that supply a
virtual “self-healing” capability to the carrier
network. Combined with other modules in the Acuité
suite,
AcuServe provides network operations, engineering, and finance managers
with a rich analytic tool set to assess interconnect partner
performance problems and cost implications. It provides hard,
quantified data on performance compared to cost that can be used during
contract negotiations with interconnect partners.
