ACUCMP – Routing at the Intelligent Layer
The AcuCMP module is an extension to the traditional AcuRate / AcuRoute
/ AcuServe / AcuCDR deployment that is designed to reside in a client's
SCP infrastructure. There, at the intelligent layer of the network, more sophisticated routing can be employed than is possible in many switch types today.
Rather than having the switch make routing decisions, the intelligent
layer of the network (the Service Control Point or SCP) uses complex
algorithms, it’s network-wide visibility and robust data sets to
make far more sophisticated routing decisions than can be made in the
switch. Once the routing decision is made in the SCP the selected
routes are returned to the switch via SS7 messages – much like
LNP or 8XX queries.
With AcuCMP, routing tables are developed and populated by the
Acuité modules and forwarded on to AcuCMP which resides as an
application in the SCP. There, routing decisions are made based on call
types (Originating and Terminating), Jurisdiction of the call
(InterState vs. IntraState), and customer class (DAL, Wireless,
Residential, Wholesale, etc.) Furthermore, special customer
routing is supported at the individual telephone number (10 digit
routing plans) that can be added or changed with ease via a Graphical
User Interface. Thus, routing can be updated or added for a
single customer in near real time.
AcuCMP (Call Management
Point) takes cost-focused routing to the highest level of
sophistication available today with intelligent-layer routing.
